The terms 52-week high and 52-week low are widely used to describe the highest and lowest a stock has traded in the previous 52 weeks (1 year approx).
Many investors use it to make informed assumptions on how the stock will do in the future.
Market traders sometimes use it. Many inexperienced investors use it as well, however ineffectively.
