Account opening and AMC are ₹0 for individuals. Dhan’s pages list the documents slightly differently: PAN is mandatory on both, and its support article says only PAN and Aadhaar numbers are required to start.

Dhan’s account opening page says you can get started in less than 10 minutes; a support article says under 5 minutes.

Documents

Dhan’s two pages describe the documents differently. The account opening page lists:

  • Identity proof: PAN card (mandatory), with your photo and signature clearly visible.
  • Bank proof: any of the last 6 months of bank statements, a cancelled cheque or a passbook.
  • Address proof: any of Aadhaar, passport, driving licence, voter ID or the last 6 months of bank statements.
  • Income proof: any of the last 6 months of bank statements, 3 months of salary slips or an ITR.
  • Signature: a photo of your signature on white paper, matching your PAN.
  • Photograph: one passport-size photograph.

Dhan’s support article says you need only two mandatory IDs to proceed, your PAN number and your Aadhaar number. Optional items are your bank account number and IFSC (to verify your bank if UPI PIN verification does not work) and F&O income proof if you want to trade F&O or commodities. Dhan has a separate support article for applicants who do not have an Aadhaar number.

If you use a referral code

  • Enter the code during onboarding. Dhan says referral attribution is captured only during onboarding and cannot be changed afterwards.
  • After you set your mobile PIN, Dhan shows who referred you, with an option to edit the referral code. Once you update the code and proceed, the account is permanently mapped to that referrer.
  • Dhan’s terms say a client already registered with Dhan before using a referral link or code is not eligible for a referral reward.
  • Dhan determines referral rewards under its own policy and can revise it. This page does not promise any reward. Details are on the Dhan referral code page.

Other account types

Dhan publishes separate pages for HUF, corporate and minor demat accounts, and non-individual accounts need extra documents. Check Dhan for the steps that apply to you.
