Dhan brokerage charges by segment
| Segment | Brokerage per executed order |
|---|---|
| Equity and ETF delivery, IPOs, mutual funds | ₹0 |
| Equity and ETF intraday, and MTF | Lower of ₹20 or 0.03% |
| Futures and options (equity and commodity) | ₹20 |
“Lower of ₹20 or 0.03%” means 0.03% of the order value when that is below ₹20 (orders under about ₹66,700) and ₹20 for anything larger. Dhan also publishes ₹0 platform charges.
Taxes and exchange charges on Dhan trades
These are charged on top of brokerage by the government and the exchanges. They are the same at every broker, apart from small differences in how brokers round and bill them.
| Charge | Equity delivery | Equity intraday | Futures | Options |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| STT | 0.1% on buy and sell | 0.025% on sell | 0.05% on sell | 0.15% on sell premium |
| Exchange transaction charge (NSE) | 0.00307% | 0.00307% | 0.00183% | 0.03553% of premium |
| Stamp duty (buy side) | 0.015% | 0.003% | 0.002% | 0.003% |
| SEBI turnover fee | ₹10 per crore | ₹10 per crore | ₹10 per crore | ₹10 per crore |
| GST | 18% on brokerage, exchange and SEBI charges | 18% | 18% | 18% |

Dhan charges: three worked examples
Each example adds up every charge on a round trip (buy and sell). The delivery and intraday examples buy and sell ₹1,00,000 of shares once each. The options example buys premium worth ₹50,000 and sells it for ₹60,000. Amounts are rounded to the nearest paisa and leave out tiny exchange investor-protection levies.
| Charge | Delivery (₹1,00,000 buy and sell) | Intraday (₹1,00,000 buy and sell) | Options (₹50,000 buy, ₹60,000 sell) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Brokerage | ₹0.00 | ₹40.00 | ₹40.00 |
| STT | ₹200.00 | ₹25.00 | ₹90.00 |
| Exchange transaction charges | ₹6.14 | ₹6.14 | ₹39.08 |
| SEBI turnover fee | ₹0.20 | ₹0.20 | ₹0.11 |
| Stamp duty | ₹15.00 | ₹3.00 | ₹1.50 |
| GST | ₹1.14 | ₹8.34 | ₹14.25 |
| DP charge on the sell | ₹14.75 | ₹0.00 | ₹0.00 |
| Total charges | ₹237.23 | ₹82.68 | ₹184.95 |
| Total as % of turnover | 0.237% | 0.083% | 0.168% |
Two things stand out. With ₹0 delivery brokerage, STT is by far the largest cost on a delivery trade. On a small options trade the flat ₹20 per order is a large share of the total. Profit or loss on the trade itself is not included, and neither is income tax on gains.
