Taxes and exchange charges on SBI Securities trades
These are charged on top of brokerage by the government and the exchanges. They are the same at every broker, apart from small differences in how brokers round and bill them.

SBI Securities charges: three worked examples
Each example adds up every charge on a round trip (buy and sell). The delivery and intraday examples buy and sell ₹1,00,000 of shares once each. The options example buys premium worth ₹50,000 and sells it for ₹60,000. Amounts are rounded to the nearest paisa and leave out tiny exchange investor-protection levies.
| Charge | Delivery (₹1,00,000 buy and sell) | Intraday (₹1,00,000 buy and sell) | Options (₹50,000 buy, ₹60,000 sell) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Brokerage | ₹700.00 | ₹40.00 | ₹100.00 |
| STT | ₹200.00 | ₹25.00 | ₹90.00 |
| Exchange transaction charges | ₹6.14 | ₹6.14 | ₹39.08 |
| SEBI turnover fee | ₹0.20 | ₹0.20 | ₹0.11 |
| Stamp duty | ₹15.00 | ₹3.00 | ₹1.50 |
| GST | ₹127.14 | ₹8.34 | ₹25.05 |
| Total charges | ₹1,048.48 | ₹82.68 | ₹255.75 |
| Total as % of turnover | 1.048% | 0.083% | 0.232% |
Two things stand out. On Plan 499, delivery brokerage of 0.35% costs ₹700 on a ₹1,00,000 buy and sell, so most delivery investors compare the One India One Plans. DP charges and AMC after year one are not included in these examples because they are not itemised in the plans document. Profit or loss on the trade itself is not included, and neither is income tax on gains.
